Mick Khavari
Founder & Creative Director
Tinderbox Studios
As founder of Tinderbox Studios, Mick Khavari brings 13 years of professional
experience, helping his clients achieve success through creative services
and strategic consulting. Tinderbox Studios' services include Creative
Strategy, Brand Consulting, Identity Design (naming, corporate and brand
logos), Interactive Design (visual design and information architecture),
Advertising, Print Collateral and Packaging Design.
For each client and project, Mick delivers a highly effective customer
experience that meets the target audience needs, the brand strategy, and
his clients' business objectives.
His interactive career began in 1993 developing concepts and design for
a cutting edge digital art magazine (CD-ROM) called Substance Digizine.
His early print work began with designing and producing ads and signage
for The Gap, Inc.
Mick quickly moved into servicing top tier brands as an expert in the
field of interactive and print design. A partial list of past clients
includes Blockbuster.com, Wells Fargo Bank, Sprint PCS, Ziff Davis, Nike,
Cleopatra Records, Digital Equipment, Segasoft, General Motors, Nortel
Networks, and Macys.com.
Prior to founding Tinderbox Studios, Mick served as Senior Art Director
at Organic, Inc. where he led a 13 person creative team comprised of Designers,
Information Architects, Writers, Multimedia Artists and Production staff.
Combining creative talents and business strategy, Mick previously founded
and ran mk|designs, a firm focused on digital creative solutions.
In addition to serving clients, Mick teaches an MFA course
in Graphic Design Typography at the Academy of Art University in
San Francisco, serves as a Board Member (Graphic Design Chair) of the
SFMOMA Contemporary Extension, and is a member of the AIGA.
